Chapter Ten – Refusing

The following day, Rob informed me that we would be staying at his mother's house for a while. So we cleared out the hotel room and dropped Diego off at his house. On the way back to Glendale, I lied and told Rob that I needed tampons because I had started my period. I wasn't due to start for another week, but I knew he wouldn't try to have sex with me as long as he believed I was bleeding. I worried that Rob would look through the trash and realize that I was lying. The possibility of getting caught overwhelmed me. Luckily, Rob would get me a 44-ounce cherry Slurpee every day that he infused with vodka. I managed to make the tampons look used by dipping them into the red-colored Slurpees while Rob wasn't looking.

Unfortunately, this plan was only maintainable for a few days. By the third day, Rob began bugging me for sex. I was adamant in my refusal, but he kept persisting. He made me work painting curbs from about 9 am until the sun went down. He told me we could take a break to eat and have sex in the car. So, I refused all breaks, opting instead to work non-stop in the Arizona heat.

By the time the sun went down, I was exhausted and dehydrated. Rob finally stopped for Slurpees and sandwiches from 7-11. After dumping vodka into my Slurpee, he said, "I think you deserve a swim."

I was so relieved; swimming sounded amazing. So I gave a slight smile and said, "Yes, please."

He drove over to the apartment pool near his mom's house. I reached for my swimsuit in the backseat, but Rob stopped me. "We will do laundry at Mom's tonight, so you can swim in your underwear tonight."

I was too exhausted to fight him over it, so I sighed and got out of the car. The smell of the pool filled the air as I walked closer to the gate. My heart jumped a bit as my excitement built up. I felt the corner of my mouth begin to smile as the calm water called to me. I removed my clothes as fast as possible and eased myself into the pool. I let out an involuntary sigh as the water consumed me. I tilted my head to the sky, closed my eyes, and took a deep breath.

Just as I was beginning to relax, I felt Rob's hand move across my stomach. I flinched away from his touch and started backing away as I looked into his eyes. Those deep brown eyes were intense and haunting. He gave me a crooked smile as he reached his hands around to the small of my back. I tried to push away from him, but he squeezed me hard against his chest. He tightened his grip with his left hand and began pulling at my panties with his right hand.

"Rob, please, I don't want to," I begged as I pressed both hands against his chest.
